I grew up in northwest Iowa in a small rural town called Carnarvon.  My parents were one of 3 couples to start Wall Lake Baptist Church in Wall Lake, IA.  Grew up going to church however came to accept Christ initially at 7 years old after a vbs in our church.  It wasn't until later I believe I was truly saved in the parking lot of our church home in Sarcoxie, MO in 2009.  Up to that time I had been in bible college after high school, preached in churches, taught sunday school, and led our worship in the service.  I was a fake but in public I looked like I had it all together.  April 30, 2009 was the day I confessed to my pastor about my sin of pornography and the addiction I had to it.  I spent 23 years in that addiction and lived a secret life devoted to it and then a public life with my wife and kids.  Something had to change and confession started something awesome.  I stopped serving in the church and began the process of eliminating a horrible side to me.  As I dug into myself, I realized how broken of a man I am.  I realized I had anger issues, food addiction (which still haunts me today), and pornography (lust).  I also for many years after felt like I was to broken to ever be able to serve in the local church again.  May of 2018 led me to Edge Venture Ministries and it was there I realized I was not alone in my battles, I also learned of men that were also broken but very much serving in this ministry as well as their local church.  I learned that I could be used by God and my brokeness could be used by Him for His glory.  I now actively serve in Edge Venture Ministries for men's experiential retreats and my wife and I serve in the Edge Venture Couples Oneness ministry.  I have the complete forgiveness from my wife for what I have done to her before in secret and I have the respect of my sons.  God has called me to ministry at CityPoint Church in the area of men.  Seeking men to meet them where they are, form relationships, and live life alongside of them to help them navigate the hard stuff in their life and rejoice with them in their victories.  Men Rising Up is a CityPoint ministry that God will use to lead the men in the church to live Godly lives in their life, lead their families well, and then lead the local church well.  I am truly blessed and honored with opportunities to lead this ministry.  I am a broken man that God is using and that is what gives me freedom in Christ.  Come join us.  You are never to broken,  God can fix you and you can be used by Him.

I was born in New York City, a first generation American as my parents emigrated from the Philippines.  We moved to Des Moines when I was 4 years old.  I attended high school and college locally.  I graduated college with a business degree and have been in the commercial finance industry since.  I am a commercial banker at West Bank, and have been with the company since 2008.

My wife, Sarah, and I met in 2005, and were married in 2006.  Together, we have been blessed with 4 wonderful children: Dominic, Averia Jean, Quincy, and Sonny.  We’ve made Urbandale our home since 2007.

I was raised in the Catholic Church, yet it was not until 2010 that I gave my life to Jesus Christ.  God sent His Holy Spirit to empower us, and to make us bold in our faith when our flesh is weak.  The Spirit was working through me, and I finally admitted to myself and to others that I was, and still am, a sinner.  I confessed those sins and was immediately forgiven, which was made possible only by the power of God’s holy grace.

I’m excited to be a part of the ministry of CityPoint Church, especially Men Rising Up.  We first love God, then love our neighbors.  What better way to love on other people, other guys, than by being authentic.  Men Rising Up is a ministry that allows us regular dudes to be real and raw.  We operate in a judgment-free zone.  I’m no better than him, no better than you, no better than anybody.  The only measuring stick that we care about living up to is what God reveals to us in The Bible.

Ephesians 2: 8-9

“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast.”
